Tips For Moving| Things To Do Before Moving

Standard

The Employee Relations Council has ranked moving as the third most stressful life event behind death and divorce. Moving to a new location can be really costly and stressful if you fail to plan it early.

Following are some tips that will help you in your move.

    1. Create a list
First of all, list out all the goods that you want in your new house. Separate important and valuable goods from unnecessary ones.

  1. Notify all who are concerned
Before moving, you should notify your office about your new location. If you have children, it is important to inform their school and also request for transfer and record certificate. Also, notify your water, gas and electricity provider about your new location.
  2. Check  your valuables
You do not want to leave or lose your precious items. Make sure all your valuables are packed properly and are not far from your sight. Or, you can keep them in a safe deposit box to prevent their loss during the move.
  3. Do not pack unnecessary stuffs
If you are packing what you do not need, it will be nothing but a burden. It’s easier to throw what you do not need but you can also sell, recycle, give away or dump.
  4. Pack devices and their cables together
It is important to pack devices and their respective cables together. Put your Laptop and all its accessories, T.V. and its wires, speakers etc in the same box.
  5. Use multiple boxes
Double pack all the fragile and “handle with care” goods such as china, glasses, vases etc. You do not want to see them in pieces.
  6. Use Photographs
Take a photo of your goods before uninstalling them and paste it to their respective boxes. You will quickly know what is inside the box.
  7. Check if anything is left
Check the whole house; your rooms, basement, attic and closet. Make sure you have not left anything behind. You do not want to feel like “Something’s missing and I don’t know what it is.”
  8. Plan disposal
After moving, you will have many unnecessary boxes. Before your move, decide a place to dispose them. You can keep it yourself (if you have sufficient storage area) or give to someone who might need or give to the nearest recycling center.
  9. Hire a mover
Hire the best mover near you to have hassle free moving experience. It is difficult to move on your own. Let movers make your relocation. With professional and trained crew members of movers, you can have a stress-free relocation.
